Excessive Tardies

Beginning in January, we will implement our policy dealing with students who have excessive tardies. (See page 8 in the 2015-2016 Cleveland Elementary School Student-Parnet Handbook). Our overall attendance is good, however, we are having a problems with students checking in late or checking out early. Instruction time is being lost for these students. All students should attend school regularly and be punctual for all classes in order to receive the greastest benefit from the instructional program and develop habits of punctuality, self-discipline, and individual responsibility. There is a direct relationship between poor attendance and class failure. Students who have good attendance generally achieve higher grades and enjoy school more.

As of January 5, 2016 students shall be subject to the following consequences.

5 unexcused tardies/check-outs will attend Friday Morning Detention from 7:00-7:30 a.m.

8 unexcused tardies/check-outs will result in placement in Detention for 1 day.

11 tardies/check-outs students will be assigned Saturday School at Allgood.

14 tardies/check-outs will receive 1 day of Out of School Suspension.

If a student is late for Friday Morning Detention, Saturday School, or does not comply, the student will be subject to any or all of the above consequences.
